Booking Your Appointment

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I BOOK?

There are different factors to consider: How off-book/prepared you are, how many pages are your sides, etc. As a general rule of thumb, if you are well-prepped, here’s a quick guide:

1-3 pages: 20-25 mins
4-6 pages: 25-40 mins
6 ++ pages: 40 mins & up

WHAT IF I BOOK FOR 30 MINUTES AND END UP USING ONLY 20?

You only pay for the time that you use. If you book 30 minutes and only spend 20 minutes at our studio, you only need to pay for 20 minutes. The reverse is also true: If you book 30 minutes and your audition took 40 minutes, your invoice will be for 40 minutes.

**The exception for this is after-hours and holiday appointments. The minimum you will be charged is the time you booked.

I’M A REPEAT CUSTOMER. CAN I SAVE MY BOOKING INFO FOR NEXT TIME?

Yes! Square Appointments will remember you based on your phone number. Just click on the blue SIGN-IN button on the upper right corner of the booking screen and follow the steps.

DO I PREPAY FOR MY SESSION?

Nope. :-) You pay at the end of your appointment.

WHAT IF I NEED AN APPOINTMENT OUTSIDE YOUR NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS?

We do take off-hours appointments on a case to case basis for an additional $10 fee. Feel free to reach out via email at hi@undercurrentstudios.com or text/call 310-795-8512 (text preferred in case we’re in the middle of a session) to check on our availability.

For appointments booked OUTSIDE normal business hours, the clock starts at the appointment time, regardless if you have already arrived at the studio.

IS THERE A FEE TO CANCEL/RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?

Nope. :-) All we ask is that when you book online, choose the best estimate of the time you need and that you give us as much notice for cancellations/reschedules.


Your Session

SHOULD I BRING MY OWN READER?

You’re welcome to bring your own reader, especially if you pre-rehearsed your audition a specific way or if accents/different languages are involved. Otherwise, we will read with you. A male reader is the norm at our studio, but a female reader is available upon request (depends on availability).

SHOULD I PRINT SIDES FOR YOU?

We prefer reading off of our iPad. It’s dark behind the camera…plus, we want to avoid page-turn sounds on the reader’s mic. Most importantly…we love trees! So please email us your sides instead of printing them out, before your session. The best email is hi@undercurrentstudios.com.

WHEN DOES MY CLOCK OFFICIALLY START?

Most of our clients have become good friends of ours, so we tend to socialize during before sessions start. So we only start the clock once we actually start working on your audition and we stop your clock the moment your audition ends.

DO YOU OFFER AUDITION COACHING?

Yes. We’re working actors and filmmakers and will give you and your audition all the TLC it needs at NO EXTRA COST. It’s just all part of your session.

WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

We will send you your audition before end of day. At least, that’s our spiel. We usually give it sooner, especially if auditions aren’t back-to-back. However, if you have a rush deadline, let us know and we’ll make it happen for you.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY FILES?

Via WeTransfer. You will receive your audition files from us via an email from WeTransfer. That email will contain a download button. Just click on that so you can download your audition on your computer.

You can forward the WeTransfer email to your reps and/or casting and all links and buttons will work the same.

** We recommend downloading the WeTransfer App so you can easily view and save your auditions on your phone.

CAN YOU SEND MY AUDITION TO MY REPS?

We used to do that for everyone, but not anymore. Most actors have multiple reps, different specific instructions for every audition…and it just became too unwieldly. The margin for error increased exponentially as our roster of clients grew.

We now recommend that clients forward the WeTransfer email you receive from us to your reps. Not only can you add notes, ensure the right reps receive your audition… This also ensures that your rep sees your audition. They won’t miss an email coming from you, but they might miss a generic email coming from WeTransfer.

HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY AUDITION?

We will keep your audition saved on WeTransfer for a maximum of 14 days. Although we do pay for the premium account on WeTransfer, we just process so much auditions that it tends to fill up fast. So please download your auditions on your computer right away!

CAN YOU UPLOAD MY AUDITION ON VIMEO FOR ME?

Yes, absolutely. However, since it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to upload, transcode, apply correct privacy settings and password protections to your auditions uploaded on Vimeo, we charge $5 to do that for you.

To avoid the additional cost, you can easily create a free Vimeo account and upload your auditions on your own once you receive your files from us via WeTransfer.

CAN YOU UPLOAD MY AUDITION ON ECOCAST FOR ME?

Yes, we can. Again, that process takes approximately 10-15 minutes and we charge an additional $5 for that.

Parking & Directions

WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?

We are at 3450 Cahuenga Blvd. W. #510, Los Angeles 90068. Right by Universal and LA Fitness. :-)

WHAT’S THE PARKING SITUATION?

We offer free valet parking Mondays-Fridays from 9am to 4pm. Just please tip our hardworking valets.

On weekends and after hours (or if you simply prefer), there is an abundance of metered parking available right outside.

I’M AT THE GATE. EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME! WHERE DO I GO? HELP!

From the main gate, immediately turn right, then make an immediate left. Undercurrent is the last unit (corner) to your left. We’ll have our name on the door. :-) Please check out the pics on the left for reference.

THE MAIN GATE IS CLOSED; WHAT DO I DO?

Dial 510 either at the main gate or walk-in/pedestrian gate and we will buzz you in. :-)
